A candle for Dewey

Many of us were shocked and saddened to hear of Dewey's death last week. She was the force behind so many great book blogging ideas and challenges (Weekly Geeks, the Readathon) and managed to build an amazing community here. Her husband wrote of her death on her blog this morning. We'll miss you Dewey.

I'm really sad tonight - there are some beautiful tributes out there. I feel like we should do something wonderful in Dewey's memory, but right now, I am just at a loss for words and thoughts and just feel a bit empty.

Yes Wendy, I feel that way too. I think a memorial event would be great. We'll get to a place soon when we can think about it.

I've been thinking about what type of memorial we could do, too. Definitely something when the fog clears.

A memorial should definitely be in order. Maybe we bloggers can get together and set up a scholarship in her name in her town...or maybe gather a donation or something to her local library.

She was a great woman and touched so many...she'll be missed

It's so sad. I know that this creative community will come up with a proper, meaningful memorial for her. She was one of a kind.

Perhaps the best memorial would be to have a 24 hr read-a-thon in her memory. She loved hosting that event.
