I've always imagined paradise as something like a library. -- Geraldine Brooks in March.
A lawn is nature under totalitarian rule. ~Michael Pollan, Second Nature, 1991
I love Pollan. :)
That's a great one! We've lived for the past five years in a dry area where most people don't have lawns, so now they look so unnatural and weird to me. Most people either have:yards landscaped with local plants that thrive in low-water conditionsa yard full of weeds (better than waiting water!)or a yard with artful rocks and pebbles.I like the first option best! That's what we have, and it makes so many birds and animals come hang out!
HaHa Great quote!Lawns like that remind me of golf courses or astro-turf ... I prefer something a bit less perfect with lots of wildflowers, shrubs and trees.
