From Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, page 57:
'Be that as it may,' she said -- a sign that she wasn't going to give in. 'Be that as it may, there's research and there's research. What you're doing -- this pig brain thing. You're interfering with the building blocks of life. It's immoral. It's...sacrilegious.'
It's Tuesday, Where Are You? is hosted by an adventure in reading.
Hm, where am I? That's a good question. It's sometime in the future and I think I'm in Canada, or what used to be Canada. The world is topsy turvy and I suspect that genetic engineering has pretty much ruined life on Earth.

Woa thats pretty heavy. I have read a few teasers now of this author and I think I will have to pick up a book at some point in the future.
I wonder what on earth is happening to the poor pig.
My teaser is here. Have a great week.
I haven't heard about this book but I have heard so much about this author. I guess I'm going to have to check her out.
Margaret Atwood is a fabulous writer, one of the best in contemporary fiction. But unless you're a fan of sci-fi, I wouldn't recommend starting with this book. Rather, start with Cat's Eye or The Handmaid's Tale or Alias, Grace or The Blind Assassin.
futuristic novels are a fun read. your teaser is great. I am here
This one scares me. I've been hit or miss with Maggie, and it's such a huge book! I remember Jill's review and it didn't help my reticence of this one.
Maybe next year..
I've heard Atwood read excerpts from the book, and be interviewed at great length about it. Although I completely agree with what she's getting at in the book, it still sounds awfully grim, and I'm not sure I'd read it myself.
I love many other of her books, so I may not need to read every single thing she's written. But I like your teaser, and I hope you're really enjoying the book!
My teaser is at Bookishgal
Ahh, genetic engineering ruining life on earth. That sentence makes me want to re-read Feed. :D Happy Tuesday!
Oooo mum saw your comment and offered me her Atwood omnibus. I dont mind sci-fi depending on how it is done (if that makes sense).
That sounds like it might be good...I'll have to look into it. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I live in NW Portland (practically Beaverton) and it is very suburban. I used to live in N. Portland and never saw a Towhee in my garden. It was just too urban. They seem to like more shrubs, trees, and thickets. I'll have to check out your other blogs.
