Supporting the Read-a-Thon - and more!

It's time for another 24 hour read-a-thon! I'm not participating as a reader (I KNOW I wouldn't be able to stay awake reading all those hours!) but I am championing my pal Wendy again, pledging money to the charity of her choice and encouraging others to do the same.

For this event, Wendy has chosen Triple Creek Ranch "which provides therapeutic horseback riding and Hippotherapy to children and adults with emotional, learning, behavioral and physical disabilities." Wendy, a physical therapist, has volunteered with this wonderful organization for several years, so it's near and dear to her heart (and she is near and dear to theirs).

Reading is Fundamental - Read-a-Thon Fundraiser

My friend Wendy (caribousmom) is participating in the 24 hour Read-a-Thon this weekend. It's a fund raiser for Reading is Fundamental (RIF), a children's literacy program that has suffered extreme budget cuts under the Bush administration (don't get me started). To support Wendy's venture into this reading challenge, I'm pledging $30 to RIF. Wendy would be embarrassed that I'm telling you this, but she does some fabulous work out in the world, volunteering her time for some really wonderful programs.
